ABOUT THE WEBINAR

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the practice of business and accounting is no exception. A recent Thomson Reuters survey found that tax, accounting and audit firms using generative AI jumped to 21 % in 2025 from only 8 % in 2024, and more than half of accounting-firm staff already use open‑source AI tools such as ChatGPT.

AI-driven tools are being used for tasks ranging from tax research and preparation to bookkeeping and document summarization. Industry reports note that AI is particularly useful in accounting because it can intelligently handle repetitive tasks like data entry and transaction reconciliation, resulting in increased productivity, better accuracy, lower costs and improved support for decision‑making. This 2-hour free webinar helps accountants and the others in the field rethink the role AI plays in business and accounting, in particular.

Objectives

  1. Explain key AI technologies: provide an accessible overview of machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing and generative AI, and how these technologies underpin modern business tools.
  2. Assess the impact of AI on accounting workflows: discuss how AI automates routine tasks (data entry, invoice processing, reconciliation and compliance), improves accuracy, detects anomalies and supports decision‑making.
  3. Explore practical applications: present real‑world examples of AI in auditing, financial reporting, and risk management, including use cases from Big Four firms and regional organizations.
  4. Discuss ethical and professional considerations: examine the governance, data‑privacy and transparency issues that arise when using AI in financial contexts, and consider the role of human oversight.

Identify skills for the future: highlight the new competencies accountants need (e.g., data literacy, AI literacy, critical thinking) and discuss training and certification pathways.
