DAHABSHIIL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

General Information

The Dahabshiil Group Scholarship Program aims to support aspiring individuals in pursuing their educational goals by offering scholarships for the Certified Accounting and Tax Technician (CATT) program at the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Somaliland (ICPAS). This scholarship is designed to empower students and foster a skilled workforce in the field of accounting. 


The scholarship covers the following: 

- Full coverage of registration and exam fees for the CATT program.

- Study materials and resources required for the program.

- Mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals in the accounting and taxation industry.

- Networking opportunities with fellow scholarship recipients and industry experts.

- Potential internship or job placement opportunities within Dahabshiil Group.


Note: Please note that the scholarship does not cover re-exam or rescheduling fees.

 1. Eligibility


The Dahabshiil Group Scholarship is open to candidates who meet the following criteria:


  1. Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration or any other relevant field as determined by ICPAS (read more information on CATT HERE); 
  2. Demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing a career in accounting and taxation.
  3. Meet the admission requirements of the ICPAS for the CATT program.
  4. Have financial need, as determined by the scholarship committee.


Note: this scholarship is open to new CATT candidates who have not sat for an exam. 


2. Application Opening and Closing Dates
The application period for the Dahabshiil Group Scholarship Program typically opens annually on the dates specified by ICPAS. Applicants are encouraged to apply within the designated application period.

3. Number of available scholarship for this opening: 5 scholarships.


4. Application Process


a. Online Application: Eligible candidates should complete the online scholarship application form available on ICPAS website. The form will require personal, academic, and financial information.


b. Submission of Documents: Applicants must provide the following documents:

  • Certificate and transcript of relevant qualifications;
  • Statement of purpose (see below). 


c. Statement of Purpose: Applicants are required to submit a brief statement (around 300 words) describing their career aspirations in the field of accounting and taxation and how the scholarship will assist them in achieving their goals (CLICK HERE to read more about the statement of purpose).


d. Review and Selection: A scholarship committee composed of representatives from Dahabshiil Group and ICPAS will review applications for the scholarship. Selection will be based on academic merit, financial need, and the quality of the statement of purpose.


e. Notification: Successful scholarship recipients will be notified via email or phone. They will receive instructions on how to proceed with enrollment and scholarship acceptance.


f. Scholarship Acceptance: Recipients must confirm their acceptance of the scholarship within the specified time frame. Failure to do so may result in the scholarship being awarded to an alternate candidate.


g. Program Completion: Scholarship recipients are expected to maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout the CATT program and actively engage in any mentorship or internship opportunities provided.
